本日の気になる言葉：
make do
The meaning of the phrase （意味）:
According to the Free Online Dictionary :
“To manage to get along with the means available”.
→ 要するに、「有るものでうまくやり繰りする」ってことですね
言葉通りに解釈すれば、「doを作る」
なんとなく雰囲気伝わってくるような？
上記の意味からそう遠くもないような気もする。
Some examples （例）：
After I got a pay cut, I had no choice but to make do on less income.
(減給になった後、少ない給料でやりくりせざるを得なかった）
I went surfing last week - there weren’t many waves but I had to make do with what we had.
（サーフィンしに行ったけど、あんまり波がなかった。でもなんとか来た波でやり繰りした）
I came across the word as I was reading a book called ‘What I talk about when I talk about runnning’ by Haruki Murakami, which I took with me on my holiday (I have to confess I sometimes like reading Japanese authors’ books in English - I know it’s slightly less authentic, but I enjoy it because it lets me imagine how the writers originally put the words and sentences in Japanese..) This phrase came up a few times in this book and got stuck in my head somehow...
