Any tips and tricks that you secretly have?

My students are kind enough to spare me their tips and tricks on how to cook/clean/make tea/do anything in class and today one of them gave me her tips on how to choose the best package of strawberries in supermarkets. As in Canada you could mistakably pick up incredibly NOT sweet ones in stores, you want to make sure that you choose the right ones. So here we go my ‘tip of the day’ for those who love strawberries like myself and are on a constant hunt for the sweetest strawberries available in stores:

How to choose the best strawberries in stores:

1) Observe carefully - pick the deep red ones and the ones that are slightly damaged. Also pay attention to the seeds - I prefer the ones with seeds that are not sunk personally

2) Give a good sniff and pick up the ones that have the nice strong strawberry scent :) This, I feel, in conjunction with the tip number one will largely increase the chance of getting sweeter ones:)
